These were his instructions to them: "The harvest is great, but the workers are few. So, pray to the Lord who is in charge of the harvest, ask him to send more workers into his fields.
Folks take off during the summer months more than any other season and it’s a known fact. Why? Because the sunshine invites us to play, play, play. While playing is all good, I want to encourage you to stay the course by putting your hand to what Christ has called you to do. There is so much work to be done and not enough laborers to do it.
This is more than just a call to work as unto the Lord. This is a call to hold one another accountable in our walks with Christ. This is instruction to go and harvest his people. To help plant the seed of Christ in others. He is asking that we equip ourselves and one another with the knowledge of the things of God and then to go out and do His kingdom work by telling others about Him. We can do this by using our gifts and talents as a vehicle that drives us to the field of the harvest. The very place we plant our seeds.
Walking in purpose has no off days. As you go about your daily lives remember that your overall purpose is to glorify God and point the world back to Him. This mindset should be ingrained in us and implemented as often as we are reminded that this is our great commission, and more so still. I’m a stylist through and through. I beautify things and people for a living. I find myself always looking for a way to pretty something or someone up. The talents and gifts God has given me in the realm of making things pretty, has allowed me to minister to others about the goodness of God in my life. Through operating in my God given purpose with my God given talent, I am able to work and harvest continuously, as long as I stay the course.
Believe me, I too want to play all day but playing all the time does not produce a harvest. It leaves nothing to reap because nothing was planted in the field. Listen, while you are out enjoying God's beautiful sunshine be sure to walk in purpose and pray that God sends more workers. Workers who operate in their gifts and talents with intentions to further the kingdom of heaven and glorify God. Stay in prayer, stay in His word, and stay diligent in your work for His kingdom. We should do this with a heart for people and a want to tell them about the many great wonders and works of our father in heaven.
