The Profitable Worker

Proverbs 14:23

In all labor there is profit, but mere talk tends only to poverty

According to this verse in Proverbs, talk is cheap. Telling others about the plans, hopes, and dreams that the Lord has shown you is not inherently bad. In fact, reciting the promises of God can be a great motivator to our tired and broken spirit. But mere talk, meaning we regularly and frequently engage in speech instead of performing the actions to bring about the promises, will only lead to poverty. Not only is poverty the state of being poor, but it can also be the renunciation of the right to individual ownership of property as part of a religious vow. Meaning all talk and no action will lead to the formal relinquishing of the field you were told to till and harvest. When are you going to stop talking about it and start being about it?

Proverbs is full of wisdom. Wisdom that helps us move throughout this life. Working hard should not be something that you try to refrain from. It is imperative that you work hard doing the things that God is calling you to do. It should give you great satisfaction and joy to work the land that God has given you. That is not to say that every part of the job will be enjoyable, or that the labor will always be light enough to smile through. The work we are called to is tedious, but it will lead to a land that prospers because you are working for the harvest, and the harvest comes to those who work hard.

I guarantee you are going to enjoy the reward of the work that you're called to do and your motivation for working hard will be the promise of that great harvest. Your labor will not be in vain. The basic definition of labor lets us know that parts of the work will be back breaking, spirit trying, and even soul crushing. Yet it is this very labor that will produce a profit, showing that the amount earned far outweighs any effort spent. The bottom line is, if I have to work hard then I want to be found doing the work that yields the most joy, and that is the work of the Lord’s harvest. So, sis, find your field, roll up your sleeves, and get to work.

Hard work pays off, P.R.E.T.T.Y woman!
